Introducing 'The Work' of Byron Katie
'I Need More Money' “My children should listen to me” “I am a failure” "They are so ____" (stupid - ugly - rich & Lucky - much smarter than me) ’Nobody loves me’ 'I need to ______' (make a decison - get good grades - make more money - get ahead) ‘______ should respect my____ ( sobriety - decisions - relationships)
“I am ______” (too fat – dumb – ugly – old - not good enough - better than them) T houghts like these pass through our minds throughout the day causing stress, anxiety, frustration, and deep resentments. How different could your life be if these kinds of thoughts never bothered you again?
I am grateful and blessed in all areas of life
... and even though I have every blessing in Life ~ there are times when I feel stressed out & frustrated. Then I do 'The Work'
When you feel cheated, stressed out, pissed off, ungrateful - feel hatred towards others or yourself...
Try this because it works fast, it's easy to do and it really makes a difference in all areas of your life!!!
I Love 'The Work' because... as Carly Simon says:
I haven't got time for the pain.....

"Have you ever had any of these stressful thoughts?"
'I am not good enough'
What really pisses you off?
Your family - the economy - social injustices - the way people treat you - the government?
Who in your life really needs to change their ways & get their 's#!t' together?
Family- friends - coworkers - neighbors... who else needs to change how they act, how they live, and how they treat you so that you can be happy and peaceful? Can you think of a few not-so-fond memories of how people have treated you, acted towards you, reject you, and talk to you? Painful stuff, sometimes - huh
So, if pain and suffering can come from our thoughts about other people and how things should be… can you end your pain and suffering if you had different thoughts? I realize that it’s nearly impossible to "change your mind". Otherwise, it would be easy to overcome a painful past, forget about arguments and the way people have treated you.
However, what you can do is open your mind, Question Your Thoughts and discover a new perspective. Can you end your own pain if you had a different perspective?
The answer is YES! But don't take my word for it, test it out
* If you could find an easy and effective way to get along with the people in your everyday life would you
want to know about it?
* If you could stop replaying those old - painful - memories & replace that with peace... would you try it?
* If you could end ‘the war” inside of you without drugs, a divorce, abusing alcohol, overeating, purging,
or beating people up verbally or physically… would you be interested? If so, then try "The Work".
“The Work” is simply a process of a few questions that will gently lead you to look at who & what causes your unhappiness. Let’s take a look at your judgments of others, and memories of the past, and fears about your future. As you identify old beliefs, negative thoughts and stressful memories, “The Work” will show you how to question them, gently investigate them and turn them around -
It is so simple, effective and accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds. The Work requires nothing more than a pen, some paper and an open mind. You can do it on your own, at a workshop, or with me in a private setting.
The Work is like shining a flash light on the dark places in our hearts and mind. The process is like unpacking old boxes to see what’s been stored away. Once you open up… you get “rid of the junk” and get to keep all the “good stuff”. It is like a good house cleaning, or a “mental cleanse”.
Are you ready for The Truth? As you open your mind… Your life may become a wonderful dream instead of a nightmare, yet it's up to you to follow through....

DO NOT CENSOR Yourself!
Truth ~ Reality~ Peace ~ Love ~ Compassion ~ Understanding
"Can it really be so easy?"
Sound too good to be true? Don't take my word for it...Try it - find out for your self. What have you got to lose but pain, loneliness and suffering? You can always go back to the old way… denial - negative attitudes - stuffing the pain with food - numbing yourself with alcohol - sleepless nights - drugs…or whatever wasn’t working before.
Supplement your other programs, counseling, or therapy with “The Work” J because “The Work” works!
This is not about religion, philosophy, there are no mantras to chant, no woo-woo stuff, or diagnoses of disorders...
In traditional/ conventional therapy, it takes a long time to figure out what happened, who's to blame, there's lots of story telling - justification - opinions & money involved.

The Work is like this (Metaphorically):
You’re walking through the desert, and it’s a beautiful day and you look down, and you see a big fat rattlesnake, and you’re terrified of rattlesnakes. You jump back, your heart is racing, your pulse is beating, you’re paralyzed with fear, sweat on your brow.
Then the sun goes behind a cloud, and you look again, and it wasn’t a snake after all—it was a rope. Now, I invite you to stand over the rope for a thousand years and make yourself afraid of it again. You can’t.
This is self-realization. You have realized for yourself what is true. And you can never be afraid of that rope again.
That’s the power of questioning your mind. So what we’ve been dealing with are "snakes". And I can tell you, in over twenty years, I have never met a thought that in reality is a snake. They’ve all been ropes. Every single stressful thought I have ever encountered has been a rope. There’s no exception to that. And I love that you’ve begun to find that out for yourself.
